The Man Booker Prize for Fiction was founded in 1968 by Booker Brothers. Administered since 2002 by the Booker Prize Foundation in the United Kingdom, this prestigious award is given to the best full-length novel written in English and published in the United Kingdom by a citizen of the Commonwealth or Republic of Ireland. The Prize is worth 50,000 GBP to the winner. Each shortlisted author will receive 2,500 GBP in addition to a leather bound copy of his or her own book. Many Booker Prize Winners go on to receive other literary awards such as the Nobel Prize in Literature!
