THE NOBEL PRIZE INTERNET ARCHIVE DEMOGRAPHICS
Part of the Nobel Prize Internet Archive
Analyzing log files and informal user surveys, we determined
that the demographics of our visitors includes a broad range
of nationalities, ages, and interests.
Here are a few highlights:
-
As the awarding of the Nobel Prizes is a truly international affair,
so is the Nobel Prize Internet Archive.
While about 65% of our visitors are US-based,
the rest come from virtually every other country of the world.
-
Usage is equally divided between home users (from AOL, NETCOM,
and other Internet Access Providers) and corporate/educational
visitors.
-
High school and undergraduate college students writing term
papers and final projects are among the heaviest users of the
Archive. (A significant increase in usage and the number of questions
emailed to us occurs at the end of each semester.)
-
For what it's worth,
we have had a few confirmed sightings of Nobel Prize
winners among our visitors (and almost certainly an even greater
number of unconfirmed ones exist -- like most people, Nobel Prize winners
are vain)!
Of course, in October, when Nobel Prizes are announced,
it seems that virtually EVERYONE
with an Internet account
visits The Nobel Prize Internet Archive!
